- I love Diet Coke – My Mimi loves to tell my sister and me that she started feeding us Diet Coke through a straw when we were babies. Both my mom and Mimi can be found drinking a Diet Coke throughout the day and they instilled a love for it in my sister and I. My older sister even got me a bedazzled Diet Coke purse for one of my birthdays. Although I don’t drink it as much as I used to (which is definitely for the best), It is still the best mid-day pick-meup and perfect pairing with Mexican food or pizza.
- I love taking film photos – I have been obsessed with film photography since high school! I love the anticipation of how the pictures turned out and trying to remember what I captured over the past month. Using a film camera takes away the temptation to check how the pictures turned out immediately after taking them. I use Southeastern Camera Company in Raleigh and Carborro, and their service is unmatched.
- I’m from Raleigh – Both of my parents were born and raised in the 919, and decided to raise their family in Raleigh as well. I loved growing up in the Triangle, and it is crazy to see how it has grown over the past few years– it’s consistently in the top places to live rankings! Although I am a Tar Heel, I was not Tar Heel born or bred. I spent many days at Carter Finley Stadium and the “RBC” Arena as my dad did not miss a home NC State football game for 20 years before the pandemic. I’ll always have a soft spot for the Wolfpack and if they’re not playing UNC, I do pull for them.
- I grew up in a house full of girls – My dad likes to joke it’s him and my boy dog Tuffy against the world. Our family of four consists of my parents and older sister (who is my best friend in the whole world) and me. You can tell from my baby photos—there was no shortage of pink and sass. Although my dad loves sports and video games, he is the perfect girl dad. My mom likes to call us #TeamHumphrey, and they are my best friends!
- Pink and blue are my favorite colors – This one might not be as obvious, but between the pink text and background, and lots of pictures in Carolina blue, hopefully you can see those are my two favorite colors!
- Camp is my favorite place ever – I was a camper for 8 summers before the pandemic. Because of the pandemic, I didn’t get my last two summers but chose to come back and work after my freshman and sophomore years in college. It is a place full of radical joy, and my experience there permeates my everyday life. The quality of the community is something I constantly seek and strive to emulate.
- I was a State Champion (twice!) – Volleyball was my “main” sport. I played from sixth grade through senior year and was lucky to be on my high school’s varsity team during my junior and senior years. We won the state championship both years, which was the program’s fifth and sixth in a row! Being a part of such a decorated and historic team is something I will never forget.
- I started playing guitar in college– My parents got me a three-quarter guitar for my 21st birthday, and I have loved learning to play it. I’m not an expert by any means, but it’s become a fun hobby and one of my favorite ways to unwind.
